Position: Associate Director, Resident Training
Organization: The Broad Residency in Urban Education
Location: Oakland, CA
The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems seeks an Associate Director, Resident Training to be responsible for leading the development and delivery of the professional development programming for The Broad Residency Program. He or she will serve as a member of Resident Development Team and will report to the Managing Director and will require 25% travel. This is a full-time, exempt position located in Oakland, CA.
Responsibilities:
- Lead team of Residency staff to prepare and deliver a high quality, engaging, and differentiated training experience to increase Residents’ impact
- Manage the research and creation of professional development session content modules with a focus on reform of urban K-12 systems and leadership development
- Identify and manage independent contractors to develop session content and materials
- Provide technical assistance to staff and presenters on design and facilitation
- Occasionally facilitate, present and lead group discussions
- Manage Operations Associate responsible for all logistics required for professional development program, including pre-session mailings, session materials, on-site logistics, and managing Resident communications through contact database and portal
- Work with staff at The Broad Center to develop and maintain effective knowledge management systems for curricular materials
- Work with the TBR and TBC staff to implement appropriate learning content management systems for developing, deploying and re-purposing of curricular materials
- Maintain ongoing dialogue with Broad Center leadership to assess training and curriculum needs
- Assist with the program evaluation process including establishing metrics and benchmarks for curriculum and training to monitor and ensure program and Resident success
- Other duties as necessary to ensure program success
- Five + years of professional work experience, including at least three years in training or instructional design for adult learners
- Background and/or working knowledge in the content areas of:
- Urban K-12 education reform, management and operations
- Leadership development and skill building
- Highly organized with experience in project management
- Ability to simultaneously plan and execute multiple detail-heavy projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Quick learner who is open and responsive to feedback
- Compelling interest and demonstrated commitment to improving K-12 education
- Masters or other advanced degree in relevant field required
